This is a short taping of the pioneer recipe contest that was held at "This is The Place Heritage Park". The winner was the first lady shown. She did her great-grandma's fudge recipe. Becky's children were not in this part of the taping, but we watched it. I have a copy of all the pioneer recipes that were in the finalist.

Studio 5 KSL TV

All week on KSL Studio 5, I kept hearing an advertisement on TV that Studio 5 would be filming live at "This is The Place Heritage Park", so today, June 19, 2009 I decided to take Becky's children with me to the park to see what all the excitement was. Our timing was perfect. We arrived in time to sit on the yellow train and wave at the camera as the train went by. Then we went to the "Heber C. Kimball" home where there was more filming going on. We received instructions about a game that the children could participate in. We went behind the house where the games were being set up. The children were allowed to do a couple of practice runs and then they were filmed live on TV with Brooke Walker and Darin Adams. They played two games both of which were filmed. All the while that the filming was going on I took pictures of the filming. I have attached 4 of the pictures I took, (I actually took a total of 105 pictures). We all had a great time and at the end of the filming, Brooke asked Saeby if she wanted to hold the microphone and Brooke Walker had her picture taken with C.J., Saeby, Ysa and Jaxen Clark. What a fun day it was.

New Church Library

Last Saturday, Floyd and I went to the new Church History Library open house. It rained off and on all day, but was only cloudy when we drove to Salt Lake. We parked at a near by parking lot and walked a short distance to the library. The newly finished library will officially open to the public on June 22, 2009. The building is very large, 230,000 square feet. The library property on North Temple Street between State Street and Main Street in SLC, was originally owned by Heber C. Kimball (1801-1869). This land has been occupied by homes, a school, a mill, a blacksmith shop, a pharmacy, a cafe, an ice-cream shop, a dance academy, a bowling alley, an advertising agency, and the mission home.
The library holds more than four million church documents from around the world, ranging in date from 1830 to the present. The building has five floors containing books, pamphlets, magazines, manuals,, newspapers, original unpublished journals, diaries, papers, manuscripts, photographs, posters, maps, audivisual recordings and microfilms as well as patriarchal blessings.
Floyd and I saw a short 14 minute film on the library and and then went on one of the tours. It was exciting and fasanating. We saw a demonstration on how the first edition copy of the Book of Mormon that Joseph Smith hand addressed to Vienna Jacques, one of the three women referenced in the Doctrine and Covenants and the Joseph Smith Papers, was cleaned refurbished.
When we finished our tour and got ready to leave there was a cloud burst and we got wet on the way to the car. We enjoyed our tour of the library so much we didn't even mind, it added to the excitement of the day.

Graduation

Our oldest grand-daughter, Samantha Tyler graduated from Logan High School last night June 3, 2009. The program was wonderful. Samantha surprised everyone in her family, when she did a solo on her viola. She also sang in the choir. She has accomplished much during her time at Logan High, playing on the softball team and being in the production of "Greece". We are very proud of her for all she has accomplished.

New Bushes
Monday, May 4, 2009

I've been excited for good weather so I can plant flowers and get the yard shaped up. We have done a lot of trimming, as you can see from the "sticks" left in the above picture. We trimmed these bushes way back and there is not much left. I think we may need to take them out and put in new ones. The old ones were over grown. My problem right now is the weather. It keeps raining so I can't be outside. Therefore, the yard is at a stand still. I am praying for good weather soon.
