Valentines

I enjoy scrapbooking, but my favorite is making cards and other decorative items. Last week some of my grand-daughters came over and we decorated valentine mailboxes. During the week I spent some time making lots of valentine cards for my family. This is what I do when it is cold and snowy outside. Sometimes I make quilts, but I haven't done that yet this year.

Ancestors

A fun way to remember your ancestors is to scrapbook calendars, and photo albums of them. Besides doing their histories and genealogy, my latest fun thing to do is to make calendars with their pictures on them or photo albums. Many of my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins have really liked this idea.
As you can see on the bottom photo, I did a time line of my great grandfather that shows his life through the years.

YUM YUM

I can't take full credit for these good Lemon Ricotta Cookies with Lemon Glaze. I got the main recipe off of the food network web site, courtesy of Giada De Laurentis. I made a little change to them by using some whole wheat pastry flour for half of the flour, and adding some mini chocolate chips to the batter. " I have to get my chocolate fix each day." They are really good. If you want the recipe, go to www.foodnetwork.com on Giada's food site for Tuesday, January 20th, or let me know and I will E-Mail you a copy.

Ogden Union Station

Today Floyd and I decided to have lunch at the Ogden Union Station. The first station was built in 1889. The second one, pictured, was built in 1923. It is a Spanish Colonial Revival style building, built where the first station once was. I remember going to this station with my parents as a young girl to see relatives either coming home or going some where on a train. I had several Uncles that were in the Navy and also an Aunt. I also had two uncles that worked for the railroad.
This historic building is now a Utah State Railroad Museum. Their are many exhibits to see. Their is a train shop, a model railroad exhibit, a restaurant, gift shops, a gallery, and a car museum. The food at the restaurant is wonderful and we enjoy looking around and reminiscing about the "good old days". I thought you might enjoy a couple of the pictures I took.
Every year during the holidays, there is a Christmas boutique at the station. Our daughter, Jenny has made and sold many fun craft items there.

Purses and Shoes

The picture shows my latest crafts. While visiting with granddaughters we made purses and shoes. They loved it and we had a great time. the girls made some for their friends and I did as well. We made over 2 dozen sets. We put notes in some of the purses, calendars, cards, and recipe cards in some purses. I gave some to my visiting teaching sisters and some to friends and neighbors. The purses and shoes were made from double sided patterned cardstock and embellished with flowers, ribbon, and gems. We put Hershey candy kisses inside each shoe. They were a hit. They were quick, easy, and fun to make.

Winter 2008-2009

The past few days have been cold but nice. We haven't had to shovel snow, but we still have a lot of it in our yard.

Washington

November 29, 2008 to December 4, 2008

I went to Bothell, Washington and stayed with Bryan & Angela and their family for a week. We wallpapered, put up Christmas Decorations, went to down town Seattle, rode the metro to the space needle, went to dinner at the Cheese Cake Factory, went to a Nursery to see Christmas decorations, went Christmas shopping, soaked in Bryan's hot tub and had a great time. I loved every minute of it.
